Latvia Leads in Rapeseed Imports from Kazakhstan

Record Kazakh Rapeseed Supplies to Europe

Kazakh rapeseed is rapidly gaining popularity in the European market. According to the latest statistical data, Latvia has made a breakthrough by tripling its purchases of this crop from Kazakhstan and setting a historic record. In the first 11 months of the current season (from September 2024 to July 2025), about 40 thousand tons of Kazakh rapeseed were shipped to Latvia.

This figure not only exceeded last year’s results for the same period by more than three times but also became the highest ever for the entire season. Such a sharp increase in trade relations highlights the growing demand for Kazakh agricultural products and the strengthening of their position in the international arena.

Following Latvia, other countries are also among the largest importers. In second place is the Russian Federation, which imported 32.4 thousand tons of oilseeds. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous season, when imports amounted to only 3.2 thousand tons.
Completing the top three is Poland. Over the 11 months of the current season, it purchased 21.4 thousand tons of rapeseed. Notably, according to official statistics, there were no rapeseed shipments to Poland recorded in the previous season.

The growth of exports to these countries indicates the expansion of Kazakhstan’s rapeseed supply geography. If the current trend continues, further strengthening of trade ties and the emergence of new export routes can be expected.
