🌾 Decline in Wheat Prices in Kazakhstan: Sell Now or Wait? Recommendations from the Ministry of Agriculture
In the southern regions of the country, the harvest of grain crops is underway. Despite the wheat's quality being high enough to meet or approach milling standards, the prices for grain turned out to be lower than expected. In response to this situation, the Ministry of Agriculture has updated its trade recommendations for agricultural producers, advising them not to delay the sale of grain.
According to the Ministry, current average prices for third-class wheat range from 97,000 tenge per ton for a gluten content up to 23% to 126,000 tenge per ton for gluten content of 28% and above. Fourth-class wheat is priced at 83,600 tenge per ton, and fifth-class at 62,000 tenge. Prices for durum wheat range from 119,000 tenge per ton (with a protein content of 14% and higher) to 131,000 tenge per ton (with a protein content of 15% and higher). The price for second-class barley stands at 65,000 tenge per ton.
The Ministry of Agriculture insists that storing grain under current economic conditions is not cost-effective and recommends that farmers step up their sales.
In the oilseed sector, the situation is more stable. Prices for flaxseed have reached 213,200 tenge per ton, and for rapeseed, 200,000 tenge. There is also a stable demand for red lentils, with prices for non-standard varieties up to 150,000 tenge per ton.
