Uzbekistan Leads in Importing Kazakh Grain: Significant Increase in Deliveries in 2023

Kazakhstan significantly increased its grain exports in 2023, showing a growth of 24% compared to the previous year. According to the National Statistics Bureau, in the first ten months of this year, the country exported 3.8 million tons of wheat to international markets. This export growth is noted not only in quantity but also in value, increasing by 7%, reaching 1 billion dollars.

Uzbekistan became the main importer of Kazakh wheat, importing 1.976 million tons, 40% more than the previous year. Tajikistan and Turkmenistan also showed significant import volumes, ranking second and third, respectively.

At the same time, a decrease in export volumes is observed towards Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. The markets of these countries showed a negative dynamic, reducing by 14%, 62%, and 56% respectively.

Outside the CIS, impressive export growth was recorded in Afghanistan (24%), Italy (47%), and Turkey (54%), while China resumed importing Kazakh wheat in 2023.

Other countries, such as Tunisia, Iran, Latvia, Spain, and Sweden, also contribute to Kazakhstan's export portfolio, albeit in smaller volumes. Particularly small export volumes are attributed to the Netherlands, Germany, and Mongolia.
