🪙 Deputies Request Government to Allocate 85 Billion Tenge for Grain Purchase

The deputies of the "Aul" party have appealed to Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov with a request to urgently allocate 85 billion tenge to support domestic farmers. Of this, 10 billion tenge is proposed for purchasing 155,000 tons of grain at market prices, while the remaining 75 billion tenge is intended for acquiring 1 million tons of wheat.

The party representatives expressed hope for a swift resolution of this issue. According to them, delaying financing could negatively affect the agricultural sector. They also emphasized that allocating these funds aligns with the instructions given by the Head of State at the first Forum of Agricultural Workers held on November 15, 2024.

Currently, the National Company "Food Contract Corporation" has started accepting applications from agricultural producers through its regional offices. Priority will be given to small-scale farms. To extend state support to more farmers, the volume of grain purchases from individual agricultural enterprises will be limited. The representatives of "Aul" consider this decision fair.

In recent months, global grain prices have significantly decreased. This is due to record harvests in Kazakhstan and other countries, which have led to an oversupply and increased pressure on prices. Additionally, economic instability in certain regions, reduced export demand, and changes in trade policies have further impacted grain prices. Amid high competition and surplus stocks, Kazakh wheat is being traded at relatively low prices.

The deputies underline that supporting farmers in the current economic environment is critical, particularly for small-scale farms in vulnerable positions.
