Third-Class Wheat Accounts for 72% of Wheat Delivered to Kazakhstan's Grain Elevators
Gluten content exceeds 28% in 48% of tested wheat samples, while the share of Hi-Pro grain reaches 70% in Akmola Region
Kazakhstan's new grain harvest is demonstrating high quality indicators. Despite unfavorable weather conditions during the growing season, agricultural producers managed to harvest substantial volumes while maintaining good bread-making properties of wheat.
According to preliminary data, approximately 72% of the soft wheat received by the country's grain elevators is classified as third-class wheat. At the same time, gluten content exceeds 28% in 48% of the tested samples, confirming the high quality characteristics of the harvested grain.
In several grain-producing regions, crop quality indicators exceed the national average. In particular, third-class wheat accounts for 90% of the wheat in Akmola Region, while the share of Hi-Pro grain reaches 70%.
These results are important for Kazakhstan's food security. Sufficient supplies of high-quality food-grade wheat make it possible to meet domestic demand for grain, flour and bakery products, as well as establish the necessary reserves.
The quality characteristics of the harvest also play a significant role in the development of export supplies. Higher protein and gluten content supports demand for Kazakh wheat among flour-milling enterprises and strengthens its competitiveness in foreign markets.
In addition, high grain quality indicators create opportunities to expand the geographical reach of Kazakhstan's agricultural exports and strengthen the position of domestic producers in international markets.
Thus, substantial harvest volumes combined with high quality indicators of food-grade wheat contribute to meeting the country's domestic needs and provide a foundation for further developing the export potential of Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex.
