Kazakhstan More Than Doubles Rapeseed Exports
Rapeseed Shipments Could Reach 300 Thousand Tonnes by the End of the Season
From September through July of the 2025/26 marketing year, Kazakhstan exported 265.8 thousand tonnes of rapeseed. This is 2.2 times higher than in the same period of the previous marketing year, according to Yevgeny Karabanov, head of the Analytics Committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan.
According to the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, rapeseed exports in July amounted to 5.5 thousand tonnes, excluding shipments to EAEU countries. Compared with June, the figure decreased 3.6-fold.
During the first 11 months of the current marketing year, Kazakhstan significantly increased rapeseed shipments to a number of foreign markets. Exports to Russia reached 66.1 thousand tonnes, increasing 2.04-fold. Shipments to China totaled 42.9 thousand tonnes, 7.94 times higher than in the same period of the previous marketing year. Exports to Latvia increased by 3.7% to 41.6 thousand tonnes, while shipments to Uzbekistan surged 28.3-fold to 25.5 thousand tonnes.
At the same time, rapeseed exports to Estonia declined by 26% to 5.7 thousand tonnes, while shipments to Poland decreased by 8.4% to 19.7 thousand tonnes. Exports to France fell to zero from 5 thousand tonnes in the previous marketing year, while shipments to Germany dropped to zero from 3.6 thousand tonnes.
Russia became the largest buyer of Kazakh rapeseed, accounting for 25% of total exports.
According to Yevgeny Karabanov, the dynamics of rapeseed shipments in the current marketing year demonstrate the best result on record. The Grain Union of Kazakhstan forecasts that Kazakh rapeseed exports will reach 300 thousand tonnes by the end of the season.
Flaxseed exports are also posting record figures in the current marketing year. In July, Kazakhstan shipped 62.9 thousand tonnes of flaxseed to foreign markets, excluding EAEU countries. Compared with June, export volumes declined by 24.7%.
At the same time, thanks to high shipment volumes since the beginning of the season, Kazakhstan's flaxseed exports reached a record 1 million 223 thousand tonnes over 11 months. This is 2.42 times higher than in the same period of the previous marketing year.
Yevgeny Karabanov noted that exports of Kazakh flaxseed are setting all-time records in the current marketing year, particularly to the EU and China. Kazakhstan is the leading supplier of flaxseed to the European Union and ranks second in terms of shipments to China.
According to the Grain Union of Kazakhstan's forecast, flaxseed exports from Kazakhstan will total 1.28 million tonnes by the end of the marketing year.
