Kazakhstan Intends to Increase Agricultural Exports to Mongolia

Trade in agricultural products between the two countries increased by 32% in 2025 and by another 11% in the first seven months of 2026

Kazakhstan and Mongolia plan to expand bilateral trade and increase its volume to US$500 million. The key areas for further cooperation were identified during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister Nyam-Osoryn Nomtoibayar.

The agro-industrial sector is being considered as one of the areas for increasing Kazakhstan’s exports. Kazakhstan has the potential to expand supplies of grain and processed grain products, vegetable oil, rice and agricultural machinery to the Mongolian market.

Trade in agricultural products between the two countries continues to grow. In 2025, its volume increased by 32%. In the first seven months of 2026, the figure rose by another 11%.

The two sides intend to use this momentum to broaden the range of goods traded between the countries and develop new areas of cooperation.

At the same time, attention is being paid not only to increasing supplies of traditional export products. Kazakhstan and Mongolia are also considering opportunities to expand trade in products with high added value.

In particular, the parties are considering opportunities to increase exports of processed food products and implement joint projects in the processing of agricultural raw materials.

Additional conditions for the development of trade and economic relations are being created by the Interim Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia, which entered into force on July 22, 2026.

At the same time, mechanisms are being developed to expand the presence of Kazakh businesses in the Mongolian market and promote bilateral trade.

This year, KazTrade signed two agreements with Mongolian partners — MAX GROUP and Mon-Kaz Trade & Investment Hub.

In addition, preparations are underway in Ulaanbaatar to launch the Made in Kazakhstan trading platform. It is intended to ensure a permanent presence of Kazakh products in the Mongolian market.

Trade finance is becoming another area of cooperation. The Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan has begun working with Mongolian banks.

The implementation of these initiatives is expected to further expand mutual supplies between Kazakhstan and Mongolia, including grain, processed grain products, vegetable oils, rice, processed food products and agricultural machinery.
