Kazakhstan's New Dairy Farms Must Reach 70% of Their Capacity by Year-End

The government has instructed regional authorities to strengthen efforts to develop livestock breeding and ensure the effective use of preferential lending funds

Kazakhstan has identified priority objectives for its agro-industrial sector, including completing the harvesting campaign on schedule, developing the livestock industry, and increasing milk production.

During discussions on agricultural matters, it was noted that a high-quality grain harvest is expected this year. To ensure proper grain storage and meet demand in domestic and international markets, regional administrations, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, have been instructed to make maximum use of all available grain elevators and storage facilities.

Particular attention was given to the operation of new dairy farms. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov set the task of ensuring that newly commissioned facilities achieve milk production of at least 70% of their designed capacity by the end of the current year.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to increase the number of pedigree livestock to improve the genetic potential of farm animals. At the same time, he pointed to insufficient involvement by regional administrations in this area.

Local executive authorities have been instructed to ensure the targeted use and effective allocation of financial resources provided for preferential lending programs under the Comprehensive Livestock Development Plan.

In addition, the meeting addressed the situation in the beverage production industry, where production growth rates have been declining over an extended period.

In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to identify additional opportunities to increase beverage production and develop effective measures aimed at stabilizing the situation in the industry.
