The Volume of Fodder Harvested in Kazakhstan Reaches 15.9 Million Tonnes

The Ministry of Agriculture monitors the pace of the campaign and the achievement of planned targets across the regions

The fodder harvesting campaign continues across Kazakhstan. According to operational data provided by regional administrations, agricultural producers have harvested 15.9 million tonnes of fodder to date. This includes 13.7 million tonnes of hay, 1.2 million tonnes of haylage, and 46.4 thousand tonnes of silage.

The development of the country's fodder reserves is being carried out under the 2026–2027 winter preparation plan approved jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and regional administrations. The plan calls for the procurement of 25.7 million tonnes of hay, 2.3 million tonnes of haylage, 2.8 million tonnes of silage, 4.8 million tonnes of straw, and 5.7 million tonnes of concentrated feed.

One of the key measures to strengthen the fodder supply has been the expansion of forage crop acreage. This year, the area exceeded 3.32 million hectares, an increase of 243 thousand hectares compared with the previous year. The share of forage crops in arable land has also risen to 14%, creating additional opportunities to supply the livestock sector with sufficient feed.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan continues to monitor the progress of the fodder harvesting campaign on an ongoing basis. Meetings of the Operational Headquarters review harvesting rates, coordination among the regions, the availability of resources for agricultural producers, and the implementation of approved performance targets.

The planned measures are expected to meet the needs of the livestock industry during the upcoming winter housing period and ensure adequate fodder reserves.
