Kazakhstan Fulfills Feed Preparation Plan by 103.5%

Farms also have 5.6 million tonnes of feed remaining from last winter

The feed preparation campaign in Kazakhstan is nearing completion. Agricultural producers across the country have already prepared more than 40 million tonnes of various types of feed for the upcoming winter housing period.

According to operational data from regional akimats, the total volume of prepared feed has reached 103.5% of the planned target.

Hay accounts for the largest share of the reserves. A total of 26.6 million tonnes has been prepared, corresponding to 103.3% of the plan. Haylage volumes reached 2.4 million tonnes, or 102% of the planned level.

In addition, farms prepared 2.5 million tonnes of silage, representing 89.2% of the plan, as well as 4.6 million tonnes of straw, or 96.2% of the target. Reserves of concentrated feed amounted to 3.9 million tonnes.

Exceeding the planned targets for the preparation of the main types of feed makes it possible to create additional emergency reserves for the upcoming winter housing period and provide livestock farms with reserves in case of adverse weather conditions.

In addition, farms retain carryover feed stocks from the previous winter. Their volume amounts to 5.6 million tonnes. These reserves are also expected to be used to meet the needs of the livestock sector.

Another source of additional reserves will be a feed grain fund to be established by JSC Food Contract Corporation. If necessary, this resource will be used to provide additional feed supplies to livestock farms.

The Ministry of Agriculture, together with regional akimats, continues to monitor the feed preparation campaign. The work is aimed at creating the necessary reserves and providing livestock farms with an adequate feed base for the upcoming winter housing period.
