Oilseed Crop Area in the Zhetisu Region Reaches 106,600 Hectares

Farmers in the region plan to begin harvesting sunflower in October

The Zhetisu Region continues to diversify crop production by expanding the area planted with oilseed crops. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, oilseed plantings in the region reached 106,600 hectares this year.

Of the total oilseed crop area, 34,600 hectares are planted with sunflower. For comparison, in 2025, 26,500 hectares in the region were allocated to this crop.

Farmers in the region plan to begin harvesting sunflower in October. The harvested crop is expected to be sent to domestic enterprises for processing.

In particular, sunflower will be supplied to the production facilities of Zhetisu Mazhiko Agrocomplex LLP, located in Taldykorgan.

The Ministry of Agriculture notes that increasing oilseed production makes it possible to expand the raw material base for domestic processing enterprises.

In addition, higher production volumes create conditions for the development of a full production cycle — from growing agricultural crops to their subsequent processing and the production of higher value-added products.
