Preliminary Forecast: Where Drought Is Expected in Kazakhstan in July

Moderately dry conditions are forecast for several regions of the country, while soil moisture levels across most of Kazakhstan are expected to remain close to the climatic norm

According to a preliminary assessment by Kazhydromet, several regions of Kazakhstan are expected to experience moderately dry conditions in July, while moisture levels across most of the country will remain close to the long-term climatic average.

In the Kostanay Region, moderate moisture conditions are forecast for the Karabalyk and Zhitikara districts. In the remaining districts, soil moisture levels are expected to stay close to normal.

In the Pavlodar Region, moderate drought is forecast for the Aktogay, Irtysh, Zhelezin, Uspen, Shcherbakty, and May districts. Moisture conditions in the rest of the region are expected to remain within the normal range.

In the Aktobe Region, moderately moist conditions are expected in the Martuk, Uil, and Khromtau districts, as well as in the city of Aktobe. The remaining districts are forecast to experience moisture conditions close to normal.

In the Karaganda Region, moderately dry conditions are expected in the Aktogay, Bukhar-Zhyrau, Osakarov, Nura, Karkaraly, and Shet districts. The rest of the region is forecast to have moisture conditions close to the norm.

In the East Kazakhstan Region, moderate drought is expected in the Zaysan, Ulken Naryn, Kurshim, Markakol, and Tarbagatai districts, as well as in the areas surrounding the cities of Shemonaikha and Ust-Kamenogorsk. Moisture conditions in the remaining districts are expected to remain close to normal.

In the Abai Region, moderately dry conditions are forecast for the Ayagoz, Abai, Beskaragai, Borodulikha, Zharma, Urzhar, and Makanchi districts, as well as the Zhanasemey area. The rest of the region is expected to maintain moisture levels close to the norm.

In the Almaty Region, moderate drought is expected in the Balkhash and Zhambyl districts, while the remaining districts are forecast to experience moisture conditions close to normal.

In the Zhetisu Region, moderately dry conditions are expected in the Alakol, Karatal, and Panfilov districts. The rest of the region is expected to maintain normal moisture levels.

In the Zhambyl Region, moderate drought is forecast in the Kordai, T. Ryskulov, Sarysu, and Talas districts. Moisture conditions across the remaining territory are expected to remain close to normal.

In the Turkistan Region, moderately dry conditions are expected in the Arys, Suzak, Kazygurt, Ordabasy, Shardara, and Zhetysai districts. The remaining observation points are forecast to have moisture levels close to normal.

In the Kyzylorda Region, moderate drought is expected in the Kazaly, Karmakshy, and Shieli districts, as well as in the city of Kyzylorda. The rest of the region is forecast to maintain moisture conditions close to the norm.

In the North Kazakhstan, Akmola, West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangystau, and Ulytau regions, moisture conditions are expected to remain close to the climatic norm, according to the preliminary forecast.

Kazhydromet emphasized that the forecast is preliminary and may be updated as new meteorological data become available.
