Russian Wheat Prices Decline on Export Market
Analysts estimate September shipments to foreign markets at 2.3 million tonnes
Russian wheat export prices declined last week in line with trends on the global market. At the same time, analysts once again raised their estimates for September exports, citing increased activity at Baltic ports.
According to the IKAR consultancy, by the end of last week the price of Russian wheat with 12.5% protein content shipped from the ports of Vysotsk and Ust-Luga stood at $267 per tonne FOB for November delivery. The price declined by $1 per tonne over the week.
At present, a significant share of grain cargoes is being redirected to terminals in the Baltic region, as most southern Russian ports are closed. Under these conditions, exporters are beginning to use Baltic terminals that were previously used for handling coal and fertilizers.
Against the backdrop of increased activity on this route, analysts revised their estimates for Russian wheat exports in September.
According to IKAR, Russia was able to export 2.3 million tonnes of wheat in September. SovEcon and Rusagrotrans provided similar estimates.
A week earlier, IKAR had estimated September shipments at more than 2 million tonnes. SovEcon's forecast stood at 2.1 million tonnes, while Rusagrotrans estimated exports at 2.2 million tonnes.
According to the analytical center of JSC Rusagrotrans, total Russian wheat exports in the first quarter of the 2026/27 marketing year, covering the period from July to September, could reach around 6.6 million tonnes.
