Construction of the Bakhty Multimodal Dry Port Begins in the Abai Region
The first stage of the project will create 200 jobs, while the complex will include terminals, warehouses, and customs infrastructure
A foundation-laying ceremony for the future Bakhty multimodal dry port and logistics park was held in the village of Bakhty, Makanshy District, Abai Region.
The project предусматривает the development of a major transport and logistics complex. It will include container and grain terminals, warehouse facilities, customs and logistics infrastructure, an automobile terminal, and service facilities. In addition, bonded warehouses with a total area of up to 50,000 square meters will be built.
The designed capacity of the new terminal is 1 million containers per year. According to the project schedule, annual throughput is expected to reach 700,000 containers by 2032.
During the first stage of implementation, the project will attract USD 210 million in investment. Financing will be provided through private investment, and the project will create 200 new jobs.
The Bakhty dry port will become the third railway border crossing between Kazakhstan and China after Dostyk and Khorgos. The new logistics hub will increase the capacity of the Kazakhstan–China border by an additional 20–25 million tonnes of cargo annually while reducing congestion at the existing border crossings.
