Prodcorporation Receives 135,000 Tonnes of Grain from the New Harvest
The bulk of deliveries came from Kostanay, North Kazakhstan and Akmola Regions
Kazakh agricultural producers have delivered 135,000 tonnes of grain from the 2026 harvest to Prodcorporation's reserves. This volume represents nearly one-third of the total quantity of agricultural products contracted under this year's forward procurement programme.
The largest volumes of grain came from three of the country's main grain-growing regions. As of October 19, farms in Kostanay Region had shipped 75,000 tonnes, North Kazakhstan Region had supplied 42,900 tonnes, and Akmola Region had delivered 10,800 tonnes.
Third-class wheat accounts for the majority of deliveries, representing 89% of the grain received. In addition, agricultural producers are supplying fourth- and fifth-class wheat, as well as barley, to state reserves.
In 2026, the national grain operator allocated 31.9 billion tenge to implement the forward procurement programme for agricultural products. Under this mechanism, farmers receive financing before the start of spring fieldwork and secure a market for part of their future harvest in advance. After harvesting, farms fulfil their contractual obligations by delivering grain and oilseed crops against the funds previously received.
The government approved procurement prices for grain from the 2026 harvest at the end of September. Under the terms of the forward contracts, agricultural producers must complete deliveries of wheat and barley to state reserves no later than November 1, 2026.
Grain purchased by Prodcorporation under forward contracts is used to replenish and renew the state strategic grain reserve and the feed grain fund. The establishment of these reserves is intended to support Kazakhstan's food security.
According to Sagat Toleu, Managing Director of JSC National Company Prodcorporation, the needs of various agro-industrial enterprises for raw materials are taken into account when building grain reserves. In particular, flour mills require food-grade wheat, while livestock farms and poultry producers need feed grain.
He noted that maintaining a balance between food-grade and feed grain is important when procuring agricultural products. Alongside high-quality wheat, supplies of feed crops also play a significant role in building state reserves. Prodcorporation expects agricultural producers to fulfil their obligations within the established deadlines, delivering the quantities and meeting the quality specifications stipulated in their contracts.
Prodcorporation has been establishing its feed grain fund since 2022. Its main purpose is to provide the domestic market with feed grain at affordable prices. Through this mechanism, livestock enterprises and poultry farms can purchase the raw materials they need at fixed prices, helping to contain production costs for meat and other livestock products.
