Precipitation May Have Complicated Harvesting Operations in Northern Kazakhstan
According to Kazhydromet, moderately warm weather prevailed across most of the country's grain-growing areas during the first ten days of October
During the first ten days of October, moderately warm weather accompanied by precipitation prevailed in most grain-growing areas of Kazakhstan. In the northern part of the country, rain and other precipitation occurred mainly in the middle of the ten-day period and may have caused difficulties in completing the harvest of spring grain crops in certain areas. The harvesting campaign is nearing completion in the main grain-producing regions, Kazhydromet reported in its ten-day agrometeorological review.
In southern and southeastern Kazakhstan, winter wheat crops were observed at different stages of development. In particular, near the Zhalanash weather station in the Kegen District of Almaty Region, the plants remained at the third-leaf development stage. Near the Sarkand weather station in the Sarkand District of Zhetysu Region, winter wheat seedlings were recorded toward the end of the first ten days of October.
Meanwhile, winter wheat sowing began at monitored sites near the Taldykorgan weather station and the Shokan agricultural observation post in the Kerbulak District of Zhetysu Region, as well as at the Korday AMP agricultural observation post in the Korday District of Zhambyl Region.
At the same time, the harvesting of heat-loving agricultural crops continued in the southern and southeastern regions of the country. During this period, farmers in Turkistan and Zhetysu Regions were harvesting corn, cotton and soybeans.
