Kazhydromet: Sunflower Harvest in 2025 Will Exceed the Norm in Three Regions of Kazakhstan

Sunflower Harvest Forecast in Kazakhstan 2025

The National Hydrometeorological Service "Kazhydromet" has presented the official forecast for sunflower yield in 2025. According to the agency, in several districts of East Kazakhstan, Abai, and Kostanay regions, the harvest is expected to exceed the long-term average indicators.

The report states that favorable agrometeorological conditions will make it possible to obtain yields above the norm:
• In Kostanay Region: Denisovsky, Karasu, Sarykol, Uzunkol, Fedorov, and B. Mailin districts.
• In Abai Region: Borodulikha district.
• In East Kazakhstan Region: Glubokoe, Katon-Karagay, Altai districts, and the city of Shemonaikha.

In the rest of the producing regions, including Pavlodar Region and most parts of Abai and Kostanay regions, the yield is forecasted to be at the level of long-term averages.

Kazhydromet provides the following baseline indicators of average yields by region:
• Kostanay Region: 8.1–10.1 centners/ha
• Pavlodar Region: 5.3–7.3 centners/ha
• Abai Region: 10.4–12.4 centners/ha
• East Kazakhstan Region: 16.9–18.9 centners/ha

This forecast is an important economic indicator for the country’s agro-industrial complex, as sunflower harvest volumes directly affect the supply of vegetable oil in the domestic market and Kazakhstan’s export potential in this segment.
