2️⃣ The quality of the grain exceeds last year’s, despite challenging weather conditions that slowed down the harvest.
3️⃣ Preliminary estimates suggest the total harvest in 2024 may reach 132 million tons.
By early October 2024, Russian farmers had completed harvesting grain crops on more than 90% of the sown area. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the total volume of the harvested crop is about 120 million tons of grain, of which nearly 85 million tons is wheat. This was reported by the Minister of Agriculture, Oksana Lut, during a meeting of the Federation Council’s Agriculture Committee.
The Minister noted that the quality of this year’s grain exceeds the levels of the previous year, despite the unprecedentedly difficult weather conditions, which significantly complicated the harvesting campaign. This year, farmers faced unprecedented challenges related to adverse weather, which slowed down the pace of harvesting and impacted yields.
Earlier in the week, Oksana Lut announced that a new forecast for the total grain harvest would be presented by the end of the week. Preliminary estimates suggest that Russia is expected to harvest 132 million tons of grain, including 86 million tons of wheat in 2024.
