EAEU Implements Unified Standards for Warehouse Certificates

The Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan has ratified an agreement regulating the issuance, circulation, and redemption of warehouse certificates for agricultural products within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This initiative aims to establish a sustainable system for managing such certificates, improve access to financial resources for certificate holders, and boost profitability in the agricultural sector and e-commerce for agricultural goods.

According to the Senate, this step is particularly crucial for EAEU member states due to their geographical distances. The use of warehouse certificates as a financial tool will effectively connect producers, buyers, and financial institutions, reducing logistics and inventory management costs.

The agreement was developed based on Kazakhstan's extensive experience in regulating and circulating grain receipts. It also includes provisions for creating national registries of warehouse certificates and storage facilities, ensuring transparency and unified accounting standards across the union.

A warehouse certificate is a security document confirming the transfer of goods for storage in a warehouse. This tool allows farmers and agricultural enterprises to use stored products as collateral for financing.

The new regulations open up significant opportunities for agricultural market participants, fostering the development of e-commerce and expanding the potential of agribusiness in the region.
