IGC Revises Wheat Forecast: Kazakhstan Expected to Harvest 15 Million Tons
IGC raises wheat production outlook: Kazakhstan to harvest 15 million tonnes in 2025
The International Grains Council (IGC) has raised its forecast for Kazakhstan's wheat harvest. According to the Council’s July report, the country is expected to produce 15 million tons of wheat in 2025 — an increase of 0.5 million tons compared to the previous estimate.
This upward revision reflects improved weather conditions and optimistic expectations regarding yields. Similarly, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) also raised its projection to 15.5 million tons, indicating a shared outlook on Kazakhstan's upcoming harvest.
In its update, the IGC slightly adjusted the estimate of carry-over stocks — from 4.6 to 4.5 million tons. The total wheat supply in the country is now projected at 20 million tons.
The wheat export forecast remains unchanged at 9.9 million tons, confirming stable international demand and Kazakhstan’s strong export potential.
Regarding end-of-season stocks, the IGC increased its forecast by 0.3 million tons, bringing it to 4 million tons, whereas the USDA offers a slightly more conservative estimate of 3.87 million tons.
The alignment in forecasts by major global analytical institutions highlights Kazakhstan’s steady position in the international grain market. These revised projections are likely to influence both export strategies and the domestic grain balance.
