🚆 Changes in KTZ Tariffs: Cancellation of Tenfold Charge for Idle Wagons
🔹 KTZ has ceased the imposition of a tenfold storage fee for cargo during the downtime of wagons under routine maintenance. The anticipated business savings are expected to exceed 700 million tenge.
🔹 Before these changes, cargo shippers and receivers were required to pay three different fees for wagon delays. Now, with the new regulations, the burden on businesses will significantly decrease.
As a result of collaborative efforts by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken," the Ministry of Transport, and the national company "KTZ," a decision was made to cancel the tenfold storage charge in case of wagon downtime for routine maintenance. This change, approved by the order of the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, is seen as a significant relief for businesses, with expected savings of over 700 million tenge.
Previously, cargo senders and recipients had to pay three different charges during wagon delays: for idle time, for cargo storage, and for militarized security, if required. Meanwhile, "KTZ - Cargo Transportation" applied an increased storage charge for all wagons at destination stations after 48 hours of their arrival.
The proposal to introduce a limited liability period for this fee was also supported — after 30 calendar days, the fee will no longer be charged. Work continues on further changes in the regulation of fee sizes depending on the downtime of wagons, to improve the business environment and strengthen the country's economic stability.
