🪙 Kazakhstan Proposes Forward Financing for Farmers to China

Kazakhstan proposed a forward financing program to Chinese investors to ensure timely and fixed-price deliveries of grain and oilseeds

Kazakhstan is strengthening its cooperation with China in the agricultural sector. During an official visit by the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan to China, the National Company "Prodkorporatsiya" reached strategically important agreements with Chinese partners.

One of the key topics discussed was the potential export of 500,000 tons of Kazakh wheat to Morocco. The parties also explored prospects for a manure processing project using advanced microbial technologies, which would reduce soil salinity and enhance its fertility.

During negotiations with representatives of Beijing Xiong Ta Animal Husbandry, the issue of importing dairy cattle from China was raised. The company also expressed interest in creating a dairy farm, which would be part of a larger dairy cluster to boost the dairy industry in Kazakhstan.

The Chinese company CITIC Construction informed about the implementation of a project for the deep processing of grain and rapeseed. The Kazakh side proposed the company consider participating in a sugar beet processing project. CITIC Construction expressed interest and readiness to continue consultations on this matter.

A key event of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov. This document will serve as a foundation for the further development of relations between the parties.

At a round table with major Chinese agricultural enterprises, Prodkorporatsiya representative Rustam Zhanatayev presented a forward financing program. He noted that pre-financing Kazakh farmers under the guarantees of the national grain operator would ensure timely deliveries of grain and oilseeds at fixed prices. This mechanism has already been successfully applied by Turkish companies interested in importing Kazakh lentils.

As a result of the negotiations, Prodkorporatsiya and the Chinese company Jiangsu SOHO Holdings Group signed a contract for the supply of up to 200,000 tons of feed barley. This agreement confirms the high interest of the Chinese side in Kazakh agricultural products and opens new prospects for exports.
