Grain Yield in Russia Falls Compared to Last Year

As of July 19 this year, Russia has harvested 46.8 million tons of grains and legumes. This figure significantly exceeds the harvest volume on the same date last year, which was 20.9 million tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Operational data indicates that as of this date, grains have already been threshed on an area of 13.7 million hectares, whereas last year at this time only 5.5 million hectares had been processed. However, this year's yield was lower than last year's figures, at 34.2 centners per hectare compared to 38.4 centners per hectare on July 19, 2023.

In particular, the total wheat harvest is estimated at 40.7 million tons, which is 26.2 million tons more than last year. Wheat has already been harvested from 11.4 million hectares, with a yield of 35.7 centners per hectare.

It is also reported that barley has been harvested from an area of 4.3 million hectares compared to 3.2 million hectares last year. The yield of barley was 33.2 centners per hectare, also lower than last year's level of 37.8 centners.

The Ministry of Agriculture predicts that in 2024, Russia may harvest 132 million tons of grain, which is less compared to the 144.9 million tons harvested the previous year.
