Azerbaijan reduced wheat import by 1.5 times

 

Azerbaijan imported 266.61 thousand tons of wheat in the first four months of 2024, which is 1.5 times less compared to the same period last year, according to the State Customs Committee.

 

In value terms, imports of grain products for this period decreased 2.1 times, reaching $59.698 million. The share of wheat in the total import expenditures of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.09%.

 

At the end of 2023, Azerbaijan imported just over 1.175 million tons of wheat, which is 9.1% less than a year earlier.

 

At the same time, the analysis of export volumes showed that Kazakhstan has not shipped wheat to Azerbaijan since November 2023, indicating a 97% decrease in exports compared to the previous season.
