Dostyk Breaks Records: 64,500 Tons of Cargo Sent to China in a Single Day
Record Freight Transport at Dostyk Station
On July 9, a new record for the volume of export shipments to China was set at Kazakhstan’s border station Dostyk. In just 24 hours, 28 trains were processed and dispatched — a total of 1,060 railcars carrying various goods.
The record-breaking shipment included 10 flatcars, 523 open wagons, and 543 other types of railcars. The export cargo consisted of pellets, hematite, iron ore, concentrates, ferrochrome, as well as 1,031 containers with a variety of products. The total weight of the shipment exceeded 64,500 tons.
According to JSC “NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy,” this achievement was made possible thanks to precise coordination between the Kazakh and Chinese sides, as well as the well-coordinated work of all departments involved. The company stated it will continue to develop cross-border infrastructure, increase throughput capacity, and improve logistics processes.
The new record at Dostyk reinforces the station’s status as a key transport hub between Kazakhstan and China. Experts predict that in the coming years, cargo volumes and the range of exported goods will continue to grow, strengthening the country’s position in the international market.
