🌾 Kazakhstan and South Korea: New Prospects for Wheat Exports
Kazakhstan and South Korea are planning to establish a partnership for wheat exports, following talks between Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alibek Kuantyrov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest Yerzhan Yelekeyev, and Chairman of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) Byung-Kwan Kim, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed measures to simplify logistics for exporting Kazakh products, as well as improvements in the investment climate. Kuantyrov emphasized Kazakhstan's attractiveness to foreign investors, highlighting recent state support measures and the potential to expand cooperation with South Korea, especially in the agro-industrial and food sectors.
Focusing on new economic priorities, the Deputy Minister highlighted Kazakhstan's commitment to attracting investments in the production of high-value goods for export. Kuantyrov noted that South Korean technology could play a significant role in enhancing Kazakhstan’s human and technological potential.
In turn, KOIMA Chairman Byung-Kwan Kim praised Kazakhstan's natural resources and raw material base, stating that the combination of these with South Korean experience and technological expertise creates favorable conditions for export-oriented production. He also expressed concerns about logistical challenges arising from the distance between the two countries, which could complicate exports.
These discussions underscore Kazakhstan's drive to strengthen its position in the Asian market and its interest in strategic cooperation with South Korea.
