Kazakhstan Exports Record Volumes of Grain to Azerbaijan

Kazakhstan boosts grain shipments to Azerbaijan through a major export surge

Amid a record harvest, Kazakhstan has significantly expanded grain supplies to Azerbaijan: in the first ten months of 2025, KTZ (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy) has already shipped approximately 600,000 tons—25 times more than a year earlier. This was reported by the press service of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy".

The leadership of the national railway operator visited Baku, where they participated in the plenary session of the Council for Railway Transport of the CIS Member States. The meeting addressed key issues of industry development: the current state of infrastructure, prospects for modernization, measures to increase cargo transportation, and the strengthening of cooperation between states.

According to Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KTZ, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan via the railway network continues to grow rapidly. Over the past four years, the volume of cargo sent to or received from Azerbaijan has increased more than sevenfold. In the period from January to October of this year alone, the figure reached approximately 4.1 million tons.

Transit flow made a substantial contribution to this dynamic: 292 container trains were dispatched from China via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), which is 12% higher than last year's results. This section continues to strengthen its role as an important alternative to traditional Asia-Europe routes.

During the visit, KTZ representatives also took part in the shareholders' meeting of JSC "UTLC ERA". The participants discussed the further development of the company and outlined strategic directions: increasing the attractiveness of the "China-Europe-China" route, expanding the share of container shipments, and introducing multi-format logistics solutions within the framework of the Trans-Caspian corridor.
