Kazakhstan Completes 93.7% of Its Feed Preparation Plan
Agricultural producers continue preparing the feed supply for winter
Feed preparation for the upcoming winter housing period continues across the regions of Kazakhstan. To date, agricultural producers have prepared 38.7 million tonnes of various types of feed.
According to operational data from regional administrations, around 93.7% of the total volume planned for preparation ahead of the winter season has been completed.
Hay accounts for the largest share of the accumulated reserves, with 26.4 million tonnes prepared. Haylage volumes have reached 2.3 million tonnes, while silage stands at 2.3 million tonnes. In addition, farmers have prepared 4.3 million tonnes of straw and 3.4 million tonnes of concentrated feed.
The hay preparation target has already been exceeded. The additional volumes make it possible to build up emergency feed reserves and improve the resilience of livestock farms in the event of adverse weather conditions.
By the beginning of the 2026–2027 winter housing period, Kazakhstan plans to prepare a total of 25.7 million tonnes of hay. The target for haylage is 2.3 million tonnes, while the silage target is 2.8 million tonnes.
It is also planned to build up reserves of 4.8 million tonnes of straw and 5.7 million tonnes of concentrated feed.
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture, together with regional administrations, continues to monitor the feed preparation campaign. The regions are monitoring feed preparation volumes and the formation of the necessary reserves to ensure that livestock farms have an adequate feed supply for the upcoming winter housing period.
