KTZh extends restrictions on transportation of goods to China until January 15

Kazakhstan's national carrier KTZ announced the extension of restrictions on transportation of all types of cargo to China through the border station Dostyk until January 15 this year. This decision was made due to unfavorable weather conditions at the Moyinty-Dostyk section and instability in receiving cargo from China.

As previously reported, it was initially planned to resume freight traffic from January 11, but the situation on the route became complicated. In particular, more than 60 trains remain temporarily suspended from traffic, and on the Chinese side 564 cars have been under unloading for more than ten days.

It is important to note that due to the ongoing loading restrictions, shippers will be exempted from penalties for failure to meet the transportation plan for the first and second ten-day periods of January 2024. This decision is an important step in supporting market participants in the current transportation difficulties.
