Kazakhstan’s Cattle Population Reached 9.1 Million Head
Positive dynamics are being recorded in both livestock farming and meat production
Kazakhstan continues to record growth in the number of major types of farm animals. At the same time, the country is increasing the production of livestock products.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of August 1, 2026, the country's cattle population reached 9.1 million head. Compared with the same period of the previous year, the figure increased by 415.5 thousand head.
The number of sheep increased to 21.9 million head, which is 772.4 thousand head more than a year earlier. The horse population reached 4.9 million head, increasing by 342.05 thousand head.
The number of camels amounted to 312.04 thousand head, exceeding the figure recorded a year earlier by 11.7 thousand head. The poultry population increased by 205.8 thousand head and reached 48.2 million head.
Positive dynamics are also being observed in livestock production. In January–July 2026, Kazakhstan produced 640.6 thousand tonnes of meat of all types in slaughter weight. This is 31.8 thousand tonnes more than in the same period of the previous year.
