Poultry Meat Production in Kazakhstan Increased by 58% Over Five Years

Kazakhstan continues to increase poultry meat production while reducing the domestic market's dependence on imported products. Over the past five years, domestic production has grown by 58%, while the share of locally produced poultry meat in domestic consumption has increased from 58% to 78%.

The development of the poultry industry remains one of the government's priority areas within the agro-industrial sector. Existing state support measures enable enterprises to expand production capacity, modernize existing facilities, and implement new investment projects.

By the end of 2025, Kazakhstan had produced 371.7 thousand tonnes of poultry meat. Compared with 235.3 thousand tonnes in 2020, production increased by 58%.

Higher production volumes have led to a greater share of domestic products in the local market. Over the past five years, Kazakhstan's self-sufficiency in poultry meat has risen from 58% to 78%.

The industry continues to demonstrate positive growth. In 2025, poultry meat production reached 372.5 thousand tonnes, up 3.5% from 360 thousand tonnes in 2024.

During the first six months of 2026, Kazakhstan produced 192.4 thousand tonnes of poultry meat.

The country currently operates 37 industrial egg-producing poultry farms with a combined capacity of 4.5 billion eggs per year.

Another 32 enterprises specialize in poultry meat production, with a combined annual production capacity of 505 thousand tonnes.

In recent years, several investment projects aimed at building new facilities and expanding existing production have been implemented. These include projects by Prima Kus, Nauryz Agro KZ, Turkey PVL, and Alel Agro.

Government support for investment activity enables poultry enterprises not only to increase production volumes but also to establish a modern production base for the industry's further development.

Efforts to expand production capacity are ongoing. In the near future, Kazakhstan plans to commission additional facilities with a total capacity of 220 thousand tonnes of poultry meat per year.

The largest projects include the construction and expansion of production complexes operated by Aitas JSC in the Almaty Region and Alel Agro JSC in the Zhambyl Region. Their combined capacity will reach approximately 170 thousand tonnes of products annually.

The implementation of these projects is expected to further increase domestic production, reduce dependence on imports, fully meet domestic demand with locally produced poultry meat, and create additional export potential.
