Wheat flour production in Kazakhstan up 6% since the beginning of the year

530 thousand tonnes of flour produced in Jan–Feb 2025 — +6% compared to last year

In January–February 2025, Kazakhstani flour producers increased their output: according to official statistics, around 530 thousand tonnes of wheat and rye-wheat flour were produced across the country. This is 6% more than in the same period of the previous year, when production amounted to 499 thousand tonnes.

February 2025 recorded the highest production volume in the last four months, with around 285 thousand tonnes of flour produced — the highest monthly figure since October 2024. In comparison, 261.7 thousand tonnes were produced in February last year.

Kostanay Region traditionally remains the leader in flour production. In the first two months of the current year, 163 thousand tonnes were produced there, slightly above the 160 thousand tonnes recorded in the same period of 2024.

Sustained growth was also noted in the North Kazakhstan Region, where 78.5 thousand tonnes of flour were produced compared to 70.3 thousand tonnes a year earlier. A significant increase was seen in Shymkent, where flour production reached 77.8 thousand tonnes, up from 53 thousand tonnes in the same period of 2024 — a rise of nearly 25 thousand tonnes.
The growth of the flour milling sector at the beginning of 2025 indicates a strengthening of Kazakhstan’s processing industry. The increase in output across key regions and February’s record performance suggest positive trends in grain processing and a potential strengthening of export capacity.
