Inspection of burial sites in flood zone: no anthrax spores found

The Ministry of Agriculture reports that floods have inundated ten burial sites linked to anthrax infection in three regions of the country. Specialized teams including veterinary and medical experts were sent to the sites to assess the situation. The staff took soil samples for further analysis at the Republican Veterinary Laboratory and the National Veterinary Reference Center.
PCR analyses and bacteriological tests did not reveal the presence of anthrax in the samples, confirming that there was no danger of spores reaching the surface. The epizootic situation in the regions remains stable. As a preventive measure, the agency continues scheduled vaccination of animals against anthrax and other dangerous diseases.
Anthrax spores, which can remain viable for up to 100 years, may remain active if the corpses of infected animals have not been properly destroyed or disposed of.
