Wheat Prices Rise as Pulses Decline: Fresh Market Overview of Grain and Oilseeds in Kazakhstan

Wheat Prices Up, Pulses Down in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has seen mixed trends in agricultural commodity prices this week: certain types of wheat have increased in price, while pulses continue to decline. The data is presented in a weekly review published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The largest increase was recorded for 3rd-class wheat with 28% gluten content — up 2 tenge per kilogram, reaching 122 KZT/kg (including VAT, ex-elevator). Third-class wheat with up to 23% gluten and fourth-class wheat with up to 20% gluten rose by 1 tenge each, reaching 91 and 87 KZT/kg respectively. Other wheat categories, as well as barley and durum, remained unchanged. Experts recommend selling wheat only as needed, waiting for more favorable offers.

In the oilseed segment, prices remained unchanged for the week. Flax, rapeseed, sunflower, safflower, and soy are trading in the range of 214–261 KZT/kg. Analysts recommend selling these crops in the near term, as no price growth is expected.

Yellow peas fell by 7 tenge, to 128 KZT/kg. Red lentils dropped sharply by 63 tenge, to 175 KZT/kg, while large green lentils fell by 120 tenge, to 275 KZT/kg. For lentils, experts advise selling only as needed due to high price volatility.

According to expert estimates, the maximum price for 3rd-class wheat with 28% gluten in the current season could reach 145 KZT/kg, while flax could rise to 310 KZT/kg. Minimum values for a number of crops are still difficult to forecast due to unstable market conditions.

Experts note that ahead of the new harvest, wheat prices remain stable, while the pulse segment may face further sharp fluctuations depending on the quality and volume of incoming products.
