📈 Record Wheat Exports: Kazakhstan Strengthens Its Position in Tajikistan
At the beginning of the 2024/25 marketing year, Kazakhstan significantly increased wheat exports to Tajikistan. According to official statistics, around 258,000 tons of Kazakh wheat were exported in September and October 2024. This is the highest figure in the last three years. For comparison, exports in the same period of 2023 amounted to about 214,000 tons, and in 2022 — approximately 236,000 tons, reports the Agrosearch.kz analytical center.
October 2024 was particularly notable, with wheat shipments reaching 134,000 tons. This is a record monthly figure, surpassing October 2022, when about 149,000 tons were exported to Tajikistan.
Tajikistan remains the second-largest importer of Kazakh wheat, second only to Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan continues to be the main supplier of grain to Tajikistan. The country's annual wheat demand exceeds 2 million tons, with nearly half of this volume met through domestic production, which averages around 1 million tons per year.
With a growing population, Tajikistan plans to increase annual wheat imports to 1.285 million tons and domestic wheat production to 1.032 million tons. These changes create additional opportunities for Kazakh exporters, strengthening their market position and fostering trade relations between the two countries.
