Kazakhstan Lifts Wheat Import Ban and Discusses Phytosanitary Control with Russia
Representatives of Rosselkhoznadzor and the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan held an online meeting to discuss mutual trade in agricultural products. The Kazakh side announced the lifting of the wheat import ban from third countries and EAEU member states starting January 1. The restriction, which was in place from August 21 to December 31, 2024, has been revoked, as confirmed by the press service of the Russian agency.
“Wheat imports to Kazakhstan will now proceed without restrictions,” Rosselkhoznadzor emphasized.
The parties also discussed compliance with phytosanitary regulations for the import of goods into Russia from Kazakhstan, including flowers, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and grain.
“The competent authorities of the two countries agreed to review the procedures for phytosanitary control carried out in Kazakhstan for the export of quarantined products to Russia in the near future,” Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
