Russia to Increase Export Duty on Wheat by 57 Times
The new export duty rates for grain will remain in effect from August 12 through August 18
Starting on August 12, Russia will significantly increase its export duty on wheat. According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the rate will rise 57-fold, from RUB 5.7 per tonne to RUB 326.6 per tonne compared with the previous week.
At the same time, the export duty on corn will be reduced from RUB 127.2 per tonne to RUB 105 per tonne. The export duty on barley will remain unchanged at zero.
The new duty rates were calculated based on the following indicative prices: US$230 per tonne for wheat (compared with US$229.4 in the previous period), US$190.9 for barley (US$191.1 previously), and US$224.2 for corn (US$230.2 previously).
The updated export duty rates will remain in effect from August 12 through August 18, inclusive.
