Grain Harvest in Kazakhstan 61.6% Complete

The harvesting campaign continues in Kazakhstan. Farmers are harvesting crops and working to supply the domestic market with agricultural products. Food security is among the priority areas outlined by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of September 9, grain crops had been harvested from 9.6 million hectares, representing 61.6% of the total area. A total of 13.5 million tonnes of grain has been harvested, with an average yield of 14.1 centners per hectare. The pace of harvesting this year is significantly ahead of the figures recorded during the same period of 2025. At the same time, the quality characteristics of the incoming harvest remain stable.

Licensed grain receiving enterprises have already received 2.83 million tonnes of grain. During the same period last year, the volume received amounted to 552,700 tonnes. Thus, the volume of grain delivered for storage has increased more than fivefold.

According to laboratory tests, 93% of the soft wheat received belongs to food-grade classes. Third-class wheat accounts for 75%, while fourth-class wheat represents 18%. The share of fifth-class wheat and unclassified grain stands at 7%.

Gluten content above 28% was recorded in 51% of the soft wheat tested. Another 23.6% has a gluten content of 25–27%, while 25.4% has a gluten content of 23–24%.

These indicators demonstrate the high food potential of the new harvest and create the necessary conditions for supplying the domestic market with high-quality grain, as well as for the further development of the export potential of Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex.

The Ministry of Agriculture, together with regional administrations, continues to monitor the pace of harvesting, grain reception and storage, grain classification, as well as the availability of necessary resources for agricultural enterprises.

More than 6.3 million tonnes of other agricultural crops have been harvested.

At the same time, the harvesting of other major agricultural crops continues across the regions. To date, 906,500 tonnes of oilseeds, 2.4 million tonnes of vegetables, 1.8 million tonnes of melons and gourds, and 1.2 million tonnes of potatoes have been harvested.

Regional headquarters are coordinating fieldwork and providing the necessary conditions for the timely completion of the harvesting campaign.

A total of 401,100 tonnes of diesel fuel has been allocated to the regions for harvesting and autumn fieldwork. Agricultural producers also continue to be supplied with mineral fertilizers. With annual demand standing at 2.3 million tonnes, contracts have been signed and 2 million tonnes of fertilizers have been shipped, representing 85% of the annual volume.

The provision of the necessary resources makes it possible to complete the current harvesting campaign while simultaneously preparing farmers for the next production cycle.

At the current stage, the main priorities remain the timely completion of harvesting, ensuring the preservation of the harvested crops, high-quality grain reception, and the formation of sufficient stocks of food-grade grain.

The expected volume of the new harvest demonstrates high food potential and creates conditions for supplying the domestic market with high-quality grain, as well as for the further development of the export potential of the country's agro-industrial complex.
