Grain reception points in Kostanay Region have received 1.735 million tons of grain from the 2024 harvest. This includes 1.361 million tons of wheat, 214,000 tons of barley, and 160,000 tons of other crops. According to the Regional Agricultural Department, 57% of the wheat is classified as Grade 3, 29% as Grade 4, 10% as Grade 5, and 4% is ungraded grain.
The region operates 35 licensed grain reception enterprises with a total storage capacity of 3 million tons. Currently, grain stocks, including carryovers, amount to 1.498 million tons, which represents 50% of the storage capacity. With the inclusion of on-farm storage facilities that can hold 5.3 million tons, the region's total grain storage capacity is 8.3 million tons, significantly exceeding current production volumes.
Farmers in Kostanay Region have received 11.1 billion tenge from the Food Corporation to finance spring fieldwork. As of now, farmers have fulfilled 85% of their obligations, delivering 119,400 tons of grain to elevators.
The slow return of grain earlier this autumn, as explained by the Food Corporation, may have been linked to farmers awaiting decisions on the extension of deadlines. Considering the current market conditions and storage capacities in grain-growing regions, the Food Corporation is exploring options to extend deadlines for forward contracts.
