Kazakhstan Halts Import and Transit of 107 Tonnes of Products
Violations involving the transportation of wheat bran and meat products were detected at the Syrym veterinary checkpoint
Two attempts to transport regulated products in violation of veterinary legislation were stopped at the Syrym veterinary control checkpoint in the West Kazakhstan Region. The total volume of cargo returned to its points of origin amounted to 107 tonnes.
The violations were detected by employees of the territorial inspectorate of the Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with state veterinary and sanitary inspectors.
In the first case, the import of 88 tonnes of wheat bran being transported from the Chechen Republic to the Turkistan Region and Shymkent was stopped. During the inspection, it was established that the cargo had no accompanying veterinary documents or labeling. In addition, the products had not undergone the required heat treatment.
Another violation was detected during the transit of 19 tonnes of boneless beef and semi-finished meat products. The products were being transported from the Minsk Region of the Republic of Belarus to Tashkent.
Since February 24, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has imposed temporary restrictions on the import and transit of the relevant products through certain regions of the Russian Federation due to an unfavorable epizootic situation.
Following the inspection, all 107 tonnes of products were returned to their points of origin. Administrative protocols were drawn up against the carriers under Article 406 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses, and fines were imposed. The carriers were also provided with explanations regarding compliance with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the EAEU.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 230 violations have been recorded at the Syrym veterinary control checkpoint. A total of 230 motor vehicles have been returned to their points of origin. Based on the violations detected, 100 administrative protocols have been drawn up, with the total amount of fines imposed reaching 8.9 million tenge.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan called on carriers and participants in foreign economic activity to comply with the applicable veterinary and sanitary requirements, as well as the rules for preparing the necessary accompanying documents.
