📉 Data Manipulation: In Kazakhstan, Discrepancies Affected Not Only Livestock but Also Poultry

After verification, the number of livestock and poultry dropped by 20-30%

🔹 Data falsifications were discovered in Kazakhstan regarding livestock numbers — about 5 million heads were falsely reported.

🔹 The data inflation affected not only cattle and sheep but also poultry.

🔹 After verification, the number of livestock and poultry dropped by 20-30%, highlighting the need for stronger control and transparency in the agricultural sector.

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his address, pointed out the issue of inflated livestock data in the country. According to him, about 5 million heads, which are listed in the official statistics, are, in fact, non-existent. This indicates that non-existent figures were reported in the agricultural sector, making it difficult to assess the real situation and leading to inefficient use of state funds.

A special commission has already uncovered that approximately 2 million heads of cattle and more than 3 million heads of small livestock were wrongly reported. Similar violations were found in crop farming, where inflated figures led to the wrongful receipt of state subsidies.

Kazakhstan's Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms also reported inflated figures in poultry numbers. Under the directive of Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, local village akims reviewed livestock household data and provided updated figures as of January 1, 2024. Based on these updated figures, livestock statistics for 2022 and 2023 were revised for peasant, farming, and personal subsidiary farms.

The updated information showed a significant reduction in agricultural livestock numbers. Specifically, cattle numbers decreased by 23%, sheep by 14%, goats by 20%, pigs by 34%, and poultry by 22%. These figures indicate the need for enhanced control over data accuracy to prevent falsification and ensure the fair distribution of state subsidies.
