Kazakhstan in Top 4 Wheat Exporters to EU: 10-fold increase in supplies

Kazakhstan is making record progress in the EU grain market, strengthening its position as a key supplier of durum wheat. In the first five months of the 2023/24 crop year (July-November), the country has risen to fourth place among exporters of this type of cereal to the EU, significantly improving its position from seventh place in the previous season. This success is confirmed by the data of the European Commission, cited by APK-Inform.

Exports of durum wheat from Kazakhstan to the EU for this period amounted to 169.65 thousand tons, which is ten times higher than the figure for the same period last year (17.32 thousand tons). Most of this volume, namely 128.43 thousand tons, was shipped to Italy, which makes this country the main consumer of Kazakh wheat in the region. In addition, Latvia purchased 20 thousand tons, Portugal about 9 thousand tons, Spain 6.39 thousand tons, Belgium 4.11 thousand tons, and Poland 1.67 thousand tons. It is especially worth noting that this year Kazakhstan has significantly outperformed Ukraine on the Polish market, while last season the situation was the opposite.

According to the European Commission, in the first five months of the current season, the leaders of durum wheat and flour supplies to the EU are Turkey, the Russian Federation and Canada, making up the top 3 main exporters.
