6500 Wagons for Efficient Transportation: "Astyk Trans" Strategy for the 2024-2025 Season

In the upcoming agricultural season of 2024-2025, JSC "Astyk Trans" continues to strengthen its position in the market for railway transportation of grain crops in Kazakhstan. The company is expanding its fleet to 6,500 hopper cars, including wagons leased from CIS countries, to ensure uninterrupted transportation of the new season's harvest without causing any rush or delays. However, during the current marketing season of 2023/24, the company faced challenges: a significant portion of the wagons remained idle even during peak load periods, with about 60-70% of the fleet being in paid storage since this spring.

Despite these challenges, "Astyk Trans" anticipates improvements in the next season due to favorable agricultural forecasts for the 2024 harvest. These forecasts promise not only to compensate for past losses but also to lay the foundation for further development and modernization of the fleet. The growing internal fleet in the Republic, however, is accompanied by a decrease in the company's market share as other operators are also actively expanding their fleets with new wagons. Today, "Astyk Trans" holds 46% of the market for railway transportation of grain by rail in Kazakhstan and 77% in domestic transportations.

The company remains a key player in the market, focused on improving operational efficiency and strengthening its market positions in the face of increasing competition. Enhancing the wagon fleet and strategic planning are expected to stabilize transportation and promote sustainable development of the company in the coming years.
