Akmola Region Becomes the First to Complete Spring Field Work in Full
The Akmola region, traditionally considered the grain heart of Kazakhstan, was one of the first to fully complete the spring field campaign this year. The sowing campaign was conducted with high agro-technical standards, efficient organization, and active participation of all involved agricultural enterprises.
Whereas last year only about 60% of sowing had been completed by the same date, this season the region managed to finish 19 days ahead of schedule. The total sown area reached 5.5 million hectares, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 63,000 hectares.
A key factor in this success was early preparation. Snow retention was carried out in winter, followed by moisture retention and pre-sowing soil treatment in spring across over 2 million hectares—three times more than the previous year. Around 37,000 units of agricultural machinery, including modern seeding complexes, were involved, ensuring operations proceeded smoothly and on time.
Government support played a significant role. 778 farms received over 100 billion tenge in loans, while more than 76,000 tons of diesel fuel were provided at subsidized prices, ensuring the stability of fieldwork.
The sowing structure also showed positive dynamics. Grain and leguminous crops occupied 4.6 million hectares, and oilseeds hit a record high of 430,000 hectares (an increase of 161,000 hectares compared to last year). The areas under vegetables, potatoes, and forage crops also expanded.
Favorable weather conditions further contributed to the successful start of the season. Precipitation levels slightly exceeded the norm, resulting in uniform and dense germination across the region.
