A Batch of Rapeseed Oil Was Exported from the Port of Aktau to Iran for the First Time
The first shipment of 5 thousand tons was completed within 2.5 days
The first batch of Kazakh rapeseed oil has been shipped to Iran through the port of Aktau. This was reported by the National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAOP).
According to the association, the first vessel with a volume of 5 thousand tons was loaded on April 4. Full loading of the ship took about two and a half days.
The buyer of the product was the Iranian company Kourosh Food Industry, while the supplier was one of Kazakhstan’s largest oil-processing plants, which is a member of the NAOP.
Chairman of the NAOP Board Yadykar Ibragimov stated that the Iranian market has significant potential for exports of Kazakh oil and fat products. According to him, Iran annually imports around 3.5 million tons of vegetable oils and meal/cake products, of which about 1.5 million tons account directly for vegetable oils.
He also reported that over the past three years, Kazakh enterprises exported more than 100 thousand tons of oil and fat products to Iran, with 94% of supplies consisting of meal products.
The NAOP believes that the infrastructure of the Aktau port allows the shipment of three to four vessels to Iran every month. On an annual basis, this corresponds to 150–200 thousand tons of vegetable oil. In the future, exports of oils and meal products to the Iranian market could exceed 500 thousand tons annually.
