Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to Prepare a Roadmap for Agricultural Cooperation

The parties confirmed their readiness to expand partnership and implement new investment initiatives

Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are preparing a roadmap for cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The two countries' agriculture ministers discussed the development of trade, processing, and joint projects in the agricultural sector.

As part of a working visit to Dushanbe, Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov met with Tajik Agriculture Minister Kurbon Hakimzoda. During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector, food security, and strengthening trade and economic relations.

According to Aidarbek Saparov, mutual agricultural trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan is showing steady growth. By the end of 2025, trade turnover increased by 11.5%, reaching $595 million. In the first quarter of 2026, this positive trend continued: mutual trade volume increased by 26.1%, reaching $182 million. The main export items remain wheat, flour, vegetable oils, barley, corn, meat products, and a number of other goods.

Kazakhstan expressed interest in expanding investment cooperation and establishing joint ventures in flour milling, livestock processing, confectionery production, vegetable oil, natural juices, and concentrates, attracting investment from Tajikistan.

Aidarbek Saparov proposed regularly exchanging information on ongoing agrifood events, intensifying cooperation in breeding and seed production, and strengthening partnerships in agricultural science and education, including the exchange of technologies, knowledge, and practical experience.

A separate topic of discussion was the preparation of a roadmap for developing cooperation in agriculture, developed by the relevant agencies of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The document is scheduled to be signed in the second half of this year.

Kurbon Hakimzoda, in turn, confirmed Tajikistan's interest in further expanding its partnership with Kazakhstan. He noted the high potential for cooperation in trade, agricultural processing, agricultural science, and the implementation of modern technologies.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to continue strengthening their partnership and implementing joint projects in the agro-industrial complex.
