Kazakhstan Projects 2.3% Growth in Agriculture Over Nine Months

Kazakhstan’s Agriculture and Food Industry Show Steady Growth

Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex continues to demonstrate steady growth. According to government data, in January–August 2025 the gross agricultural output increased by 3.4%, reaching 3.6 trillion tenge. By the end of September, growth is projected at 2.3%, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin announced at a meeting of the Headquarters for Ensuring Economic Growth.

Livestock and Crop Production
The main drivers were livestock farming (+3.2%, 2.26 trillion tenge) and crop production (+4%, 1.25 trillion tenge). Officials noted that another wave of growth is expected in October, as the gross harvest of grains, oilseeds, and other crops will be accounted for.

Food Industry
The food industry is also expanding at a confident pace. Over eight months, food production rose by 10.1%, reaching 2.5 trillion tenge, while beverage output increased by 7.1% (813 billion tenge).
The strongest categories included:
• sugar – +24% (122.8 thousand tons),
• canned meat – +29.7% (5.8 thousand tons),
• vegetable oil – +27% (595 thousand tons),
• sausages – +8.8% (51.2 thousand tons),
• butter – +15% (25.2 thousand tons).
According to preliminary estimates, by the end of September food production will show 10.9% growth, and beverages – 7%.

Transport Sector
The transport industry is also showing acceleration. From January to August, the volume of services in transportation and warehousing increased by 21.5%, and by the end of nine months the indicator is expected to reach 21.6%. Growth was supported by rising cargo flows from the mining and metallurgy, oil and gas, agriculture, construction, and trade sectors.

Outlook
Experts emphasize that agricultural activity traditionally peaks in autumn, when the harvest campaign concludes. October results may significantly adjust the overall figure, strengthening the contribution of agriculture to Kazakhstan’s economic growth.
