The national company "KTZ" has extended the ban on loading grain cargoes in containers bound for China until February.

Short-term ban due to congestion and infrastructure repairs

In a document published by KTZ, it states: "I order to prohibit the clearance of all types of empty wagons and the loading of all grain cargoes in containers (wheat, flax seeds, barley, oilseed crops, oilcakes, and processed products: flour, mixed feed, bran) from all KZH stations destined for China through MGSP Altynkol from January 21 to 31, 2025 (inclusive)."

The reason for the restriction is the massive accumulation of container trains bound for China through the Altynkol station, as well as repair work on the Moyynty-Dostyk section. According to the company, more than 70 container trains are currently congested on the network.

For shippers whose transportation plans are affected by the ban, a support measure has been introduced: during the restriction period from January 21 to 31, 2025, they are exempt from penalties for failing to meet declared transportation plans for the third decade of January.

Key Takeaways:

🔹 The massive accumulation of more than 70 container trains at the Altynkol station necessitated temporary restrictions.

🔹 Repair work on the Moyynty-Dostyk section has increased the load on infrastructure.

🔹 Shippers are exempt from penalties for failing to meet transportation plans during the restriction period
