🚜 Kazakh Farmers to Receive Subsidized Gas for Grain Drying Equipment

🔹 The Government of Kazakhstan is actively supporting farmers in conducting the harvest campaign by ensuring coordination among regions and key participants.

🔹 Farmers will be provided with subsidized liquefied gas for grain drying equipment, helping to overcome the challenges posed by rainy weather.

🔹 Mechanisms are being implemented for efficient management of the harvest campaign and grain transportation, including weekly video conferences.

The Government of Kazakhstan held the first meeting of the Operational Headquarters on Autumn Field Works, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin. The main task of the headquarters is to promptly resolve emerging issues to ensure the uninterrupted conduct of the harvesting campaign.

Under the leadership of the Government, coordination of all involved participants — akimats, financial institutions, government agencies, and large companies such as JSC "NUH Baiterek" and JSC NC "KTZ" — will be carried out in close cooperation. For the operational management of harvesting work on the ground, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and JSC "Prodcorporation" will be sent to the regions in the near future. As part of these activities, on August 23, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin will visit one of the leading grain-growing regions of the country — Akmola region.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of August 20, 2.2 million tons of grain have been threshed in Kazakhstan, of which 1.1 million tons have already been harvested. Currently, 76% of crops are assessed as being in good condition, and 22% are in satisfactory condition. Despite the comparable pace of harvesting to last year, rains are creating serious obstacles for full ripening and mass harvesting operations. In this regard, the meeting of the headquarters paid special attention to ensuring that the regions are supplied with grain drying equipment and fuel for them.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov reported that 1,301 grain drying units with a total capacity of 820.6 thousand tons of grain per day are operating in the main grain-growing regions. To ensure their operation, applications for 61 thousand tons of subsidized diesel fuel have already been submitted to the regions. However, in some areas, the dryers operate on liquefied gas, which requires additional supply of subsidized gas.

Serik Zhumangarin instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Energy to calculate the necessary volume of liquefied gas for grain drying units and include farmers in the subsidized fuel program. Akimats were also instructed to assess the need for mobile drying units among farmers, and financial institutions were tasked with developing mechanisms to subsidize their purchase.

To ensure uninterrupted supply of the new harvest to the domestic market and for export, as well as for operational management and coordination of transportation, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Transport, Prodcorporation, KTZ, and akimats are moving to weekly, and during peak harvesting periods, daily video conferences.

These comprehensive measures are aimed at enabling Kazakhstan's agricultural sector to effectively complete the harvest campaign despite difficult weather conditions. Prompt government support and coordinated actions of all participants in the process will minimize risks and ensure stable grain supplies to both the domestic market and for export.
