Restrictions on grain imports from Russia will not affect the food segment
Measures are temporary until the situation stabilizes
On March 25, the Committee of State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan published a new document regulating restrictions on the import from the Russian Federation of certain types of grain crops, processed products, as well as raw materials and finished animal feed.
According to Yevgeny Karabanov, head of the analytics committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, market participants should not expect the restrictions to apply to food-grade grain. Based on the document, the measures primarily concern feed grain categories.
He also noted that the document refers to an initiative by veterinary services dated February 24, introducing restrictions on the import of livestock and feed products from certain regions of Russia. These measures were adopted due to the deterioration of the epizootic situation in livestock farming.
It is indicated that attempts have been recorded to import feed and related products under the guise of permitted goods. In this regard, authorized bodies have been instructed to strengthen control and organize measures to prevent the illegal import of prohibited products.
It is emphasized that the measures are temporary and will remain in force until the epizootic situation in the neighboring country stabilizes.
In addition, the document states that further work should be guided by the requirements set out in the annex to the letter, while the previous letter dated 21.03.2026 No. 18-05-13/361-И should be disregarded.
It should be recalled that on March 24, the Grain Union of Kazakhstan reported the introduction of a ban on the import of grain, grain products, and animal feed from Russia into the country.
